Felicitation of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla

Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Mr. Om Birla was felicitated by the Maheshwari Community at Uttar Banga Maheshwari College on 28^th February 2023 upon his visit to the college at Ranidanga, Siliguri. The honourable speaker was felicitated by dignitaries from Uttar Bangal Maheshwari Sewa Trust, Maheshwari women community and Maheshwari Yuva Trust.

The speaker said that “Education has a big role in building a society and it is a source of growth & development in shaping the lives of individuals and to achieve a healthy and better society”. Education alone has the power to change the lives and instil new hopes in a society, he added.

Congratulating the Maheshwari community of Siliguri for setting up a college, Mr. Birla gave his best wishes to Uttar Banga Maheshwari College and hoped that the college would provide the best education and prepare the young students in Siliguri and rural outskirts to contribute immensely for their state and nation. Uttar Banga Maheshwari College, he said, will cater to the needs of students from all corners of the society. Even People from rural areas will have an opportunity to explore the affordable courses offered by this college.

He was in all praise for the Maheshwari community and stated that Maheshwari community has a long history of human service. Service to mankind, dedication to work and a spirit of sacrifice are the hallmarks of this community. He also added that Maheshwari community has set examples in standing by the People in times of adversity. They have created a name for themselves by serving the society at large.

The chairman of the college Gouri Prasad Toshniwal spoke on this occasion. The President of the trust Vikram Chand Ghattani felicitated the Guest of Honour with mementos. Jayanta Roy, honourable member of the Lok Sabha from Jalpaiguri constituency of BJP was present to grace this occasion.
